Building industrial robots capable of handling complex field games while meeting strict technical specifications and tight deadlines was the challenge faced by the Powhatan high school robotics team in a local interschool competition. It was an intense experience requiring design skills, problem-solving abilities, and strong teamwork.
Weightpack chose to actively support this initiative, stepping in as an official sponsor and opening the doors of its Powhatan (VA) facility for a day of training and inspiration. The goal: show how automation and applied technology can turn classroom ideas into real-world solutions.
Why we support projects like this
- They spark interest in robotics and applied mechanics
- They develop cross-functional skills: design, logic, collaboration
- They strengthen the connection between schools and local industries
- They provide a practical orientation towards STEM career paths
Our approach: practical and accessible technology
During their visit, students experienced firsthand the technological solutions implemented by Weightpack in its automation systems. The experience included:
- Introduction to the principles of net weight filling — a technology ensuring maximum precision and control in liquid dosing
- A complete tour of the internal production process: mechanical design, assembly, testing
- Live demonstration of a filling machine in operation, focusing on key components, control systems, and user interfaces
- Direct dialogue with engineers and technicians, ready to answer questions and spark curiosity
The visit gave students the chance to engage directly with the world of industrial automation, showing how school skills translate into real-life manufacturing processes.
Weightpack is proud to have accompanied these young talents on such a meaningful part of their journey. Initiatives like this are essential to building a solid, skilled, and inspired industrial future. We’re ready to start again together for the next season.
